Its Time is not acting on behalf of any supplier, marketing group or peak body and has no association with any political or religious organisation.
Currency variations
We provide approximate values for system costs and money saved on fuel (see Rabi example). Please be mindful, particularly considering the large fluctuations in currency values in 2008/9, the reported numbers may vary considerably at the time of reading. Some estimates are also influenced by fluctuations in fuel prices. We will continue to post cost estimates as accurately as possible at the time of expenditure or installation as the reference points.
CO2 and fuel savings
We do our best to provide accurate estimations of how much fuel and CO2 is saved as a result of the renewable system installations.
The fuel saving can vary considerably from project to project — depending on the size of the generator and its efficiency. Most generators must run at a certain minimum output. If, for example, a school has a large generator (probably donated in the past and not purpose matched) but a low power need, it may be using a large amount of fuel just to power a couple of computers. In this case the renewable system produces a large saving. Alternatively a school may have a small generator where nearly all its power output is being used — therefore the saving and reinvestment back to education is not as large. When choosing target schools we aim to maximize both the carbon dioxide saving and the subsequent opportunities we create for new education resources.
How funds are spent
A minimum of eighty percent of donated funds are spent directly on achieving the Foundation’s outcomes. We are committed to keeping administration less than twenty percent.
Less than eighteen percent is used for administration and fundraising costs. While most charities run at considerably higher administration/fundraising cost we aim to maintain a lean operation and expect to reduce the costs further as we grow — our goal is less than ten percent. Our low cost is enabled by the donation of all start up capital, generous contributions of time by dedicated volunteers and purpose built data and communications management systems.
